I purchased this handheld USB microscope the other day so as
that I could capture close up images of sections insects that have been in my
collection. I read in a couple of sites over the internet that it is
troublesome to focus this digital usb microscope. I simply cannot agree with
that. This usb microscope focuses easy and capture great images of my coin
collections. If you are searching for an straightforward way to capture images
of very small spots, this device does a excellent task at a quite reasonable price. The
optics and electronics of this product are terrific for the cost, and it
operates perfectly sufficient to be usable. Although the mechanical focus
adjustment is just about worthless; it will take 2 hands and some strength to
adjust. It's quite challenging given the restricted depth of field particularly
at greater magnifications.
The image quality is nice and i also could use this usb
microscope on my Mac under OS Lion using the Photo Booth application. The
illumination is great and the sharpness is excellent. At greater zoom, it is a
challenge to focus because there is not a rack and pinion style of focuser. You
need to simply make modest changes to your metal stand of what you're
observing. Due to the fact depth of field is short this may be tricky. The unit
is not parafocal. Which means that several zoom ranges require different focus positions.
These are problems but overall this is a great microscope and it is fantastic
way to look at little stuff on your computer system with reasonable quality.
We have been purchasing different handheld USB microscopes
for quite a while now trying to find a good microscope to help me get a closer
look at my gem collection and coins. I have finally found the perfect
microscope with the Celestron Digital Microscope. This microscope will make it
very easy for me to obtain a precise look at my samples. For examining my
inserts speciments, this USB microscope is ideal - I can even snap pictures and
give these to my buddies which is certainly pretty cool. I no longer have to
squint with one eye right into a little crappy microscope with backwards images
and terrible focus knobs. Now I just lean back at my desk and watch my computer
screen.
This digital usb microscope can be handy in several options,
which includes examining coins, reading very small print on labels or
instructions, and looking at the microscopic world surrounding you. Having said
that you will find two problems I would pre warn other people thinking about
buying one. Coins or other reflective surfaces, it is difficult to get the
light adjusted so that details can be viewed. The light from the LED material
can be tricky to adjust and is so near to the object being viewed that the view
is either washed out totally or dramatically degraded. For non-reflective
material like stamps or paper money, it is not an issue.

ReplyDeleteThe usb microscope has got generally good build quality - excellent for the price tag. The optics give very good pictures. The provided computer software is simple, nevertheless performs properly on Windows. The biggest hurdle to making good use of this USB microscope is considering of it as a traditional microscope. The measurement tool from the software package plus a minor hesitation on the zoom knob provide the biggest clues. As far as I can say, the microscope both focuses and zooms at the same time. Should you placed it on a flat surface, and focus on the surface you will find that it focuses just at two different magnifications. These are where you could make measurements. Definitely the zoom and focus are operating together from a middle point on the zoom knob. As you zoom in or out from these measurement magnifications, you can indeed obtain well-defined focus at a wide variety of different magnifications, such as lower magnification on a location like a thumbnail at an acceptable range. The integrated stand helps make all this comparatively simple. High magnification is a little difficult and loses contrast, and it may well require removing the clear plastic part. You will find two issues. I have not an issue with this usb microscope for the price, but they are strange. First, I've got 2 of these units and neither one focuses on objects zoomed all the way out to low magnification. Secondly, there is a lag time when taking photos. Because of this, you really want to get the microscope installed on a secure stand when taking photos. The name hand held ought to for that reason be eliminated from the title in my judgment.
ReplyDeleteHaving a little practice, I found focusing the microscope easy and had been able to grab still shots using the focusing knob on top of the microscope. Be advised that there is a small delay right after the trigger button is pressed until the image is grabbed, just be patient. The actual only real negative aspect I happen to be able to identify is that the level of lighting from the LED's is fixed which appears to wash out some brighter reflective surfaces. By reading the manual the unit can be angled to successfully remove the glare. Computer program includes a measuring tool that is also easy to use and should come in very handy. it is not the greatest digital microscope I ever used, but over-all it looks that this init is just what I required and it's going to give me many years of solid service. I would recommend highly it to my friends.
